Best Google Analytics Alternatives for Revenue-Focused Teams
Six alternatives to GA4, organised around the work of connecting acquisition to money rather than collecting more pageviews.

First, be precise about what you are replacing
If your problem is “we cannot see which marketing activity makes money,” replacing Google Analytics 4 is only one possible solution. GA4 can record purchase and refund events and apply attribution settings. A missing payment link, incorrect event value or inconsistent campaign convention can follow you into any new tool.
Google’s ecommerce documentation describes the event instrumentation, while its attribution settings explain model and lookback choices. Inspect those before deciding whether you have a platform problem or an implementation problem.
A revenue-focused alternative should make your recurring decision easier. That might mean simpler acquisition reporting, a direct payment connection, better product investigation or control over the data infrastructure. This shortlist contains six alternatives, with GA4 as the baseline rather than a straw man.
How we put this comparison together
We build Premely, so we have a perspective. This comparison uses current official documentation, not a paid ranking or an independently benchmarked score. Provider marks identify the products and do not imply endorsement. Features, plans and integration availability can change; check the linked sources before purchasing.

Customer linkage · refunds · revenueWhen keeping GA4 makes sense
Keep it if your team relies on Google’s advertising ecosystem, can maintain its event definitions and has already built trustworthy revenue reporting. A smaller tool can complement GA4 for day-to-day website decisions without immediately replacing the advertising setup.
Do not keep an unused implementation out of habit. List which reports drive an action, who maintains them and how frequently they are reviewed. If no one can answer those questions, simplicity has real value.
Six alternatives, each with a different reason to choose it

How this recommendation works
Premely does not automatically win. Each selected priority adds three points when it matches our editorial fit assessment. An unscored priority does not mean a product lacks that feature. Hosting is a hard filter; this shortlist compares hosted editions of Plausible and PostHog, not community editions. Product depth adds six points for a product question; suitable acquisition scope and simpler setup add two each. A matching payment connection and privacy model add four each. Ties remain ties, with Premely shown first when its score is equal. These weights express a decision aid, not measured product quality. Plan gates and implementation effort still need checking.
Candidate set: Premely, Plausible, DataFast, PostHog, Matomo, Umami, Google Analytics 4. Sources were reviewed on 4 September 2026 and are linked in this article.
A founder reviewing channels and payments each week has different needs from an analyst managing a warehouse. The first may benefit from a focused interface and a short operating checklist. The second may accept more setup in exchange for flexible analysis and an explicit data model.
Likewise, self-hosting is an operating commitment. Include upgrades, backups, access control, uptime and retention policies in the decision. Free software can still create a meaningful maintenance bill. Managed hosting can reduce that work without automatically solving tracking design.

Why the replacement will not show identical numbers
A different visitor count is not sufficient evidence of an error. Tools can define visitors differently, filter bots differently, process blocked requests differently and preserve identity for different periods. Compare definitions before comparing totals.
| Difference | What to align |
|---|---|
| Revenue total | Gross versus net, tax, refunds, currencies and payment status |
| Revenue timing | Payment date versus acquisition-cohort date |
| Campaign credit | Attribution model, lookback window and direct-traffic treatment |
| Customer count | First-time customers versus all paying customers or accounts |
| History available | Raw-event retention versus aggregated report history |
GA4’s retention documentation distinguishes event/user-level data from aggregated reporting. Do not compare a raw-data retention limit in one product with an aggregate-history promise in another and call them equivalent.
Maintain three totals during evaluation: verified revenue in the payment source, revenue captured by analytics, and the captured subset with attribution evidence. This separates capture failures from matching failures. A perfectly balanced total with invented source assignments is worse than an honest unmatched category.
A migration plan that protects the useful work
- Inventory your current dependencies. Include advertising conversions, embedded reports, audiences and warehouse exports.
- Define a minimum event contract. Record names, values, currency rules, transaction identifiers and the responsible system.
- Test a complete journey. Cover acquisition, conversion, payment and refund without exposing secrets in browser events.
- Reconcile a representative cohort. Wait for the expected conversion delay, then document residual differences.
- Keep or remove deliberately. Retain useful integrations until their replacement has passed its own checks.
The goal is not to make another tool look like GA4. It is to preserve the useful answers while reducing the work needed to get them. If you replace complexity with an attractive dashboard that cannot explain how its money total was built, you have not improved the system.
